Frequently Asked Quesitons
+ What exactly are Sisterlocks™?
Please click here to visit the official Sisterlocks website to learn more information.
+ How long does my hair need to be to start Sisterlocks™?
For healthy Sisterlocks to be established you must have a minimum of 3 to 4 inches of natural unprocessed hair.
+ How long does it take for the initial installation of Sisterlocks™?
An establishment can range from 15-36 hours depending upon the length and density of the hair. Sessions are broken up into 2 - 3 day increments. Retightening appointments vary between 2.5-5 hours. You should schedule your next retightening every 4 - 6 weeks after each completed appointment.
+ How do Sisterlocks differ from other locks?
Sisterlocks is a trademarked brand with a patented tool used to create a systematic grid customized with your specific hair characteristics all in mind. As with styles of locks such as the traditional coils or 2-strand twist, Sisterlocks does not use any waxes, jells, creams or hair extensions, so products that can add weight, stress, or hamper your hair growth are all removed with the interlocking method of locks.
+ Will Sisterlocks damage or thin my hair?
With Sisterlocks™ you will experience hair growth as your hair follicles are not being stressed by excess products, thus allowing our hair follicles to naturally breath and grow freely. As with other hairstyles, we must keep our locks maintained regularly to ensure their overall health and development. There may be life factors that cause locks to thin or break such as postpartum shedding and hereditary hair loss. Whatever the reason, we can assess your locks and try our best to preserve your locks for decades to come. We offer reattachment and reconstruction services for lost grids and locks due to hair loss.
+ How will my Sisterlocks™ look after they are mature?
Sisterlocks™ go through what we like to call stages: newbie (plucked chicken), swelling, budding, teenage, encasement, then uniformed matting/mature.

+ Can Sisterlocks™ be taken out?
Yes, the Loc Doc offers comb out services starting at $500. A consultation is needed to book this service and is deducted from the overall service. If you are wanting to transition from another style of locks to Sisterlocks™ established by the Loc Doc, then a discount can be added.
+ What does the Sisterlocks™ Package Consist of?
The Sisterlocks™ package consists of 3 visits. The first appointment being your initial consultation, the second being your locking session which can be split into 2 or more sessions and third the follow up appointment in which your Sisterlocks™ are assessed and retightened.
+ How long does the consultation last?
You can expect to spend approximately one hour with the Loc Doc. During the consultation, you and the Loc Doc will discuss the hair locking process. You will also discuss your lifestyle as it relates to your hair care practices.
